'If you are eager to learn and enjoy travelling and meeting new people, you are guaranteed to have a good time.'
I applied for the internship because I wanted to challenge myself in a different way. Doing an internship with a large company such as Infosys gave me a good indication of what it would be like to work in a professional setting. I therefore thought that it would be a nice way to prepare for when I finish my education. Also, it was a unique way for me to boost my resumé. Furthermore, the idea of working abroad has always sounded appealing to me, so this was a great opportunity to see if I enjoyed it as much as I expected.
I worked on developing a test automation framework that uses artificial intelligence for automated test case generation. I implemented an agent that is able to learn an optimal action-selection policy, by means of Q-learning, to find the most optimal test paths.
I was pleasantly surprised to see how much of the knowledge that I gained from my study (AI), was directly applicable to my project. For example, I already learned about reinforcement learning in general and we briefly touched upon the subject of Q-learning as well. Therefore, I was already familiar with the subjects and as a result the project suited me very well. The project was really about deepening my knowledge on subjects I had previously studied in class and putting them into practice.
I made many friends from all over the world. Not only do you learn about India and the Indian culture, but as so many people come from different backgrounds, you get to learn about their cultures and countries as well. Being with such a diverse group of people results in interesting conversations that can broaden your perspective on the world. It gave me new ideas about what directions I might consider after my education and encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone by pursuing more work abroad. It also showed me how friendly the working environment in a large company can be. I thoroughly enjoyed working with my project team. My mentor took the time to get to know me and gave me much flexibility to work in the way I preferred. Furthermore, they actually welcome and even encourage new ideas from interns.
Without a doubt. Overall, it is a great experience. You get to grow as a person as well as a professional. The instep team takes great care of you and the whole trip is organized. If you are eager to learn and enjoy travelling and meeting new people, you are guaranteed to have a good time.
