'You will improve yourself and expand your horizon, which is always beneficial.'
I applied for the Infosys Instep Summer Internship, as it was offered for credits, it was fully organized and it would be a great experience to work abroad. In addition, it would also add to my resume and introduce me to the culture in India which is beautiful.
The project was about the construction of a system that can automatically detect the subject of a (problem) ticket and categorize it correctly to assign the experts of each subject to the correct tickets.
A lot of topics such as Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing that have been introduced during my study (AI) - have been put into practice with this project to achieve the best result while also broadening my knowledge in these topics.
This experience also brought me in contact with others from all over the world resulting in more friendships and getting used to other cultures as well. It also showed how the work flow is within a large company as an individual, but also within a working group, which I liked, and which I probably would prefer in the future when looking for a job. This means that it also contributed in finding what I would like to do with my career.
I would definitely recommend other students, specifically in IT related studies, to apply for this program, since it shows a possible path for an IT related career within a big company, giving you the opportunity to know if a large company is more likable than a start-up. You also learn about the culture in India, you meet people from all over the world who you will befriend, you will be working both alone and within a group and many more. You will improve yourself and expand your horizon, which is always beneficial.
